Green fronts, warm metals and natural materials that age well. The kitchens people choose this year are calmer, warmer and built to last.

## Green is the new neutral

Grey-greens have quietly replaced grey. Sage and Moss in the Plain range, and Fern in the Frame range, sit easily next to wood floors, plants and linen. They read as a colour without shouting, which makes them easy to live with for years.

## Warm metals

Brushed brass is everywhere: on handles, on taps, sometimes on both. It works especially well against deep colours such as Ink, Coal and Harbour. Matte black is the cooler alternative, and brushed steel remains the timeless choice.

## Materials that age well

People are choosing worktops that show their history rather than hide it. Solid oak darkens slowly and can be refinished; honed marble develops a soft patina. The idea is a kitchen that looks better at ten years old than on day one.

## Show a little, hide a lot

Fully closed walls of cabinets are giving way to a mix: a glazed Vitrine front or two for the things worth seeing, and tall cabinets that hide the fridge and the clutter. Tall wall and Open L both play with this balance.

## Fewer, better things

Above all, the trend is restraint. Fewer appliances on the worktop, drawers instead of deep cupboards, and a layout planned around how you actually cook. It is a good time to design a kitchen you will keep. Start from a setup you like, change what does not suit you, and let the rest stay simple.

## How to make it last

Trends pass; good kitchens stay. If you love a colour, put it on the fronts, which are easy to change later, and keep the carcasses, the worktop and the layout timeless. A kitchen planned around how you cook will still feel right in ten years, whatever colour the doors are by then.
